Penny Playpal

A yahoo group that I belong to, Small Quilt Talk, is hosted by Kathleen Tracy. She is the author of 3 books by That Patchwork Place. She has a great blog, http://sentimentalquilter.blogspot.com/

I went to read it today, and lo and behold, she had a doll like mine! Her's is Patty Playpal, and mine is Penny Playpal (the little sister). Penny is all dressed up for Christmas. My mom bought her for me for Christmas 1961 when I was only 6 weeks old! I didn't play with her much through the years and my mom suspected it was because she was on the big side. She wears 2T sized clothes, so I watch for them on the clearance sales so she can have a wardrobe!
I'm still not done Christmas shopping, but I hope to be done soon. If I KNEW what to get, I could have been done a long time ago!

My birthday

Well I turned 48 yesterday on the 3rd. My husband Bill got a cake for me. Cute, isn't it? It's mostly all cupcakes. He said that it killed 2 birds with one stone, cake AND flowers all in one. Hmmmmm...........

Dotee Doll

I joined a dotee doll swap (my first one for these) and I received this from Diana. What a cute little thing this is! I hope to swap more and will post a picture of the ones that I made for the swap.

Homecoming

This is our son and daughter almost ready for homecoming. My husband was golfing and no one knew how to tie a tie! He ended up going to the nursing home to visit Grandpa and ask him to tie it for him. Success!

This is our daughter Brenna all ready for Homecoming. She is 17. She had a date for Homecoming, but I won't comment on the creep, OK? Anyway, they didn't end up going together.

And this is Jake and Elizabeth his date. Handsome couple, eh?

They all had a great time!

Small Quilt Talk Challenge #7

One of my Yahoo groups had another challenge. A log cabin with a fussy cut center. I found a fabric that was a light shirting with parrots on it, so I cut the centers out of it. After laying them out, I didn't like how it looked next to the light strips. So, I cut a different fabric and used it. I really like the parrot fabric and hated to waste it. I had a bunch of strips left over from making the first quilt, so I decided to use them up on the parrots. I really like how it turned out. These aren't very big; each block measures 3 1/2", so the parrot quilt finished up at around 10" square. I really like minis!

I joined a group on Yahoo, SBS off line. The group works on blocks from the book 'Sylvia's Bridal Sampler' by Jennifer Chiaverini. They all finish at 6" and some are quite a challenge. Here are my 8 for this month's challenge. From left to right they are: Milky Way, Puss in the Corner, Kaleidoscope, Tennesee (a real challenge this one was ), Shoo Fly, The Friendship Quilt, Fool's Puzzle (another hard one), Steps to the Altar. There are 140 blocks in the entire quilt, most are pieced some are applique'. Maybe I'll actually make them all since I'm doing this quilt with a group that keeps you going. Maybe.........

Hexagons!

At least 6 months ago, I started a little project with 1/2" hexagon paper pieces using 30's reproductions. I haven't counted how many of these I've basted to the papers! It's a nice project to do while watching tv. I haven't been working on it continually because I'm not in any hurry. It's fun and addicting! Here's how far I am.
The second picture is a closer shot. I bought the papers that you use at our last quilt show from paperpieces.com.

Small Quilt Talk challenge

This little quilt was one of Kathleen Tracy's challenges on her Yahoo group. The block was spools. I used antique fabric scraps I bought at a flea market a while ago. I really like how it turned out.

The next challenge is Scotty Dogs.

Another quilt

This quilt is named "Flossie's Star". It was a really fun quilt to do. My friend Janet in Prescott Valley, AZ swapped blocks with me to make this. We've also published this one.

A Few Quits

Here are a few of my quilts! The first one is Brenna's Heart made in 2004 for my daughter. My friend Carol and I have published some of our original patterns and this is one of them.

Well, see I accidentally hit the enter key and all I got was a picture! This is Brenna and her friend Tony all ready for the prom. They have been friends since kindergarten. She looks so grown up!

All New to Me!

Well this is all new to me. I'll be sharing some quilts and some family stuff too.
